This isn’t the post we wanted to write. We’ve rewritten it a few times, and every version starts the same way, so we’ll just say it. We’re pausing all Ketoni shipments to the United States, starting now.
What changed
On July 20, 2026, the US government announced 50% tariffs on certain Canadian imports under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, the first time any US president has used that law this way. The tariff took effect on August 19, 2026. Our products are covered, and qualifying for USMCA preferential treatment doesn’t exempt goods from the 50% tariff. We checked every angle we could think of, and none of them changed the outcome.
When a cost like this lands, a business usually has two options. You can raise prices for your customers, or you can absorb the hit and hope for the best. We couldn’t do the first one in good faith. A customer who orders at one price shouldn’t open the door to a bill that’s 50% higher. That’s not the relationship we want with you. We couldn’t do the second one either. We’re a tiny business, and a cost this size isn’t something we can swallow without putting the whole company at risk. If we tried, there might not be a Ketoni left to ship anything to anyone.
So we decided that pausing all shipments to the US was the most responsible option right now. It was an extremely difficult decision, and we didn’t make it lightly.
What this means for you
If you’re in the US, orders are on hold until further notice. If you’re in Canada, nothing changes and your orders will ship as usual.
We’re working on a better way to get Ketoni to our US customers, and we’ll resume shipping as soon as we find a solution that’s workable and fair.. One thing will stay the same no matter what we land on; we choose every ingredient on purpose, with safety and cleanliness at the front of every decision.
A heartfelt sorry
We know this will disappoint some of you, especially our loyal US customers who’ve been with us from the start. We’re so sorry. Your support means more to us than we can put into words, and it’s a big part of why we’re working so hard to find a way forward.
